Emerging from the pre-mainstream era of tattooing, from the 50s to the 70s, a time defined by the unconventional. A time of vast explorations into the medium and culture of tattooing. 20 years in the making, Clayton’s Tattoo Gazette 5 is a compilation of cut out articles and references that capture a window into the Tattoo Society of New York. Clayton’s drawings and collages frame each page. The Tattoo Gazette 5 is an homage to pivotal characters that stimulated the development of the tattoo arts, some less known than others.

This First Edition Tattoo Gazette 5 was printed at Fitch and Japanese hand bound at the Phalanstery. Only 50 copies were made and we are now making 15 of those books available, 12.25.20, on our website. We look forward to bringing you more of Clayton’s work!
